Preparation
 Faith formation classes are required to receive Confirmation. Preparation for Confirmation happens in 8th grade. It is required that any youth receiving confirmation attend the week-long Cor Christi Institute in Bismarck that takes place in July.  When is Confirmation Celebrated?
 Confirmation at St. Joseph’s normally takes place in the fall of freshman year of high school. 
  
 If you are an unconfirmed adult or have a child not confirmed who is older than the age when preparation takes place, contact St. Joseph’s parish to set up preparatory meetings 701-572-6731. Please also submit the form below.
  
 Who can be a Sponsor?
 One sponsor is required for Confirmation. The requirements of the sponsor, as also seen at in the attachment Confirmation Handbook above, are as follows:

• The person must be baptized, received first Holy Communion and be confirmed
• Currently living a sacramental life (e.g. attending weekend Mass and Holy Days of Obligation, and receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation)
• Is not in an irregular marriage as established by Church teaching.
• Be at least sixteen (16) years of age.
• Not be a parent of the person to be confirmed.

 
 While not necessary, it is encouraged that one's baptismal sponsor also serve as the Confirmation sponsor.

Confirmation Preparation Handbook
